March 2025: When Nathan, a project manager, and Jess, a marketing manager for a food company, decided it was time to move up the property ladder, they never imagined they would fall in love with a stunning new build at our Bishop’s Field development in Tingewick, Buckinghamshire.
After purchasing their first property five years ago, Nathan and Jess were looking for more space and a home that would accommodate their future plans as a family. Initially, they sought out older-style properties and even went to view a nearby village home. But fate had other plans as Jess explains: “We had seen the Bishop’s Field development on Rightmove but thought it was further away from family than we wanted. It was only when we visited the older property that we realised how close we actually were. On a whim, we drove up to have a look.”
What started as a casual exploration quickly turned into a life-changing decision much to the couple’s surprise. “Almost immediately, we fell in love with the four-bedroom detached Winchester design,” says Jess. “ The road, the design, and the high standard of fixtures and fittings were just great and we knew we had a big decision to make.”
Despite some initial hesitations due to prior issues with a previous new build property, Nathan and Jess were impressed by the superior quality and thoughtful design of their new home at Bishop’s Field. “We were surprised by all the additions and extras,” Nathan says. “It’s clear that Lucy Developments goes above and beyond what you’d expect from a standard new build.”
Several features made this property stand out and although they weren’t out to buy a new build, it was clear that what they valued could be found at Bishop’s Field. “The road was really nice, and the house isn’t overlooked, there are lots of trees and nature around,” Jess explains.
“Our previous estate was just houses, with nothing else to look at so this was a lovely change. We also love the open-plan kitchen and living area that flows seamlessly, while still having a separate living room. The garden is a great size, and the back doors opening to it create that lovely indoor-outdoor feel.”

Although the couple weren’t particularly familiar with the area of Tingewick, it offered Nathan and Jess the best of both worlds with the perfect balance of countryside and connectivity. “We wanted somewhere peaceful, close to the countryside for walks, but not cut off from essential amenities,” the couple says. Bishop’s Field delivered that balance, being just five minutes from gyms, supermarkets, and close to Stowe Gardens for weekend outings.
Having not purchased brand new before, the couple did have some queries into how it would all work. Though initially concerned about the short deadlines, Nathan and Jess found Lucy Developments’ flexibility reassuring. “Along with the estate agents, they were incredibly helpful, making the process much smoother than we expected,” Nathan explains. “They spent hours going through every element of the house and gave us a big folder with all the relevant documents, which was very helpful.”
Nathan and Jess were also delighted by the thoughtful additions that made moving in easier as Jess explains. “There was already a Ring doorbell and an electric charger for our hybrid car. Simon and Ed from Lucy Developments were so friendly and proactive, even on moving day, they spotted a few things in the house and sorted them immediately.”
With both Nathan and Jess working from home much of the time, the property’s space and layout were essential. “We’ve set up one of the upstairs bedrooms as an office and also have a downstairs office, so we’re not on top of each other,” Jess explains. “We’ve also made friends with the neighbours and found it’s a really welcoming community.”
